Kemp's was established by Harry Kemp in April 2003 after working for over 14 years in the accountancy profession, initially for local Canterbury and Deal based practices and latterly as Taxation and Audit Partner for a London West End based practice. Harry was born in Broadstairs, attended Chatham House School, then Reading University and currently lives in Broadstairs in the old town.
This fulfilled Harry's long term ambtion to be able to offer the services of an accountant in Broadstairs and Thanet to the local community and as the business continues to grow it is intergrating more and more into the local business environment.
Harry manages the practice and the Broadstairs office in Thenet, Kent, which has seven staff. Harry is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales and a member of the ICAEW tax faculty. He is also a regular member of the Thanet and East Kent Chamber of Trade pro bono Advisory Panel.
In 2011 Kemps opened an office in Hamble, near Southampton. This is managed by John Callahgan who graduated in 1987 from Reading University with a degree in Accountancy. Qualifying as a Chartered Accountant in 1991 John worked as an audit manager for Touche Ross (now Deloittes) but soon left for a varied and highly successful career in industry. He brings to the practice strong commercial skills and a wide variety of technical knowledge.
Harry and John share a common philosophy which is to provide a friendly, personal, high quality service and to work proactively with clients to maximise the probability of them achieving their business goals, whatever they may be, whilst minimising their tax liabilities.
Client’s growth and business development have always been a priority and frequently such advice to clients runs parallel with other various ongoing client work, such as preparing or reviewing year end or management accounts, preparing personal or business tax returns, tax and vat planning, restructuring accounting function and systems, and many other services (see Our Services).
Up to date internet-based communications facilitate effective and timely communications with all clients regardless of location but access to office facilities in London also allows us to be regularly available to attend meetings in London as well as Kent and Hampshire.
A free no obligation consultation is offered to all prospective clients. Please contact either office to arrange a mutually convenient appointment.
In addition Kemps is committed to support many local Broadstairs and Thanet based non for profit organisations including Broadstairs Chamber of Trade, Broadstairs Information Kiosk, Broadstairs Leisure and Tourism Association, Thanet Early Years Project, Broadstairs DIckens Week and Broadstairs Folk Week,
